Best Launch Monitors for a Home Golf Simulator (2026), by Budget
Posted in Launch Monitors
Launch monitors sit in one of three places: behind the ball, beside it or overhead. Your room usually decides which kind fits before your budget does.
In a Nutshell
For most home simulators the best launch monitor is a camera unit at about $1,600 to $2,000: the Square Omni if you can get one, the Uneekor EYE MINI LITE if you can’t. Under $1,000 the Garmin R10 works if it can sit 6 to 8 feet behind the ball; if left- and right-handed golfers share the room, the overhead ProTee VX needs no moving and charges no software fee of its own.
👉 Add the yearly software bill before you compare prices: some makers’ plans plus GSPro, the $250-a-year PC golf program, cost more over five years than the launch monitor.
Jargon, once:
- Radar vs camera — radar units track the ball from behind; camera (photometric) units photograph it at impact.
- Overhead vs floor — mounted on the ceiling, or sitting beside or behind the ball.
- Ball data vs club data — what the ball did, and what the club did at impact.
- GSPro, E6 — the PC and iPad golf programs most launch monitors connect to.

How to Choose in Three Questions
- Where will it sit? Radar units need 5 to 8.5 feet behind the ball, depending on the model. Floor camera units sit beside the ball and fit shorter rooms. Overhead units need ceiling height.
- Who will hit? Units that sit beside the ball must move when a left-handed and a right-handed golfer share the room, owners say, though Garmin’s R50 and Square’s Omni manuals describe a handedness setting. Overhead units don’t, and owners say the Mevo Gen2, a radar unit behind the ball, doesn’t either. But Rapsodo MLM2PRO owners call moving theirs between golfers a hassle.
- What will it cost every year? Add the maker’s plan, if any, and GSPro at $250 a year. Some makers charge nothing; Foresight and Bushnell say GSPro needs their $599-a-year Gold plan.

What’s Changed in 2025–26
- 1 October 2026: Rapsodo announced the MLM2XPRO at $899.99; on 2 October its page showed “Notify Me”, not a buy button.
- 24 June 2026: a GSPro public beta added support for the Square Omni.
- 14 April 2026: Uneekor gave 31 December 2026 as the end-of-life date for its QED.
- 16 March 2026: the Square Omni opened for pre-order at PlayBetter; PlayBetter’s shipping guidance later slipped from April to late fall 2026.
- October 2025: SkyTrak launched the ST MAX at $2,995 list; the SkyTrak+ is now discontinued.
Under $1,000: Radar, Hybrid and One Camera
Pick: Garmin Approach R10. It is the value radar unit, and GSPro supports it with no Garmin plan. Garmin Golf is needed only for Garmin’s own course program, Home Tee Hero. Owners and reviewers praise its value (11 reports from 9 owners and reviewers) but flag weak side-spin readings. Garmin says Titleist RCT (radar-tracking) balls improve its spin reads. It doesn’t putt.

Also consider: Square Golf Home Edition, the camera pick for short rooms. It sits beside the ball, and owners rate its putting and short-game data highly (five owners, 2025), though support draws complaints.
| Unit | Price | Sits | Yearly plan for full use | GSPro | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Garmin R10 | $499.99 | 6–8 ft behind the ball | None; Garmin Golf $99.99 for Home Tee Hero | Official | Calculated side spin; no putting |
| Square Golf Home Edition | $699 | Beside the ball | No Square subscription, per retailer listings; Square’s site does not say | Supported | Marked balls for spin |
| Rapsodo MLM2PRO | $599.99 sale (list $699.99) | 6.5–8.5 ft behind | Premium $199.99 a year | Needs Premium | No putting claimed by Rapsodo |
| Voice Caddie SC4 Pro | $599.99 | 5 ft behind | None; E6 starter included | Not on GSPro’s list; E6 Connect | Owners switching away |

Owners call the radar units gateway units:
“All of these are gateway LMs and a lot of people upgrade later.” (u/COgolf-365, 2026-09-23)

$1,000 to $3,000: Where Camera Units Took Over
Pick: Square Omni or Uneekor EYE MINI LITE. Both are camera units that sit beside the ball. Owners and reviewers rate the Omni’s value highly (10 reports from 10 owners and reviewers), and its accuracy against premium units. On 2 October 2026 the Omni was sold out at Square, back-ordered at Shop Indoor Golf and on pre-order at PlayBetter. Customer support is the repeated complaint, and one owner advises buying through a US retailer rather than Square.

One owner who has used an MLM2PRO, SkyTrak, Mevo Gen2 and R10 wrote:
“the Omni has been the most reliable between all of them” (u/mcdickmann2, 2026-09-30)
On 2 October the EYE MINI LITE showed Add to cart at Uneekor and three retailers, at $1,999 on sale. Owners praise its distance accuracy, but GSPro needs Uneekor’s Pro plan at $199 a year. Club data needs stickers on the club and leaves out face angle, and Uneekor says it is for indoor use only.

Outside the US, owners report region-lock problems (9 reports from 6 owners, late 2025), although Uneekor support told one owner its products are no longer region-locked. Owners say Uneekor sale prices recur around Black Friday. The EYE MINI ($2,999 on sale) adds outdoor use and putting analysis.
Pick for accuracy: Bushnell Launch Pro. Owners and reviewers rate it the accuracy benchmark (22 reports from 12 owners and reviewers, 2021–2026), and describe it as the same hardware as Foresight’s GC3. GSPro already needed Bushnell’s Gold plan in August 2026, at $499 a year. By 2 October 2026 the plans had been renamed Foresight+ and Gold cost $599. Foresight says existing licenses for its older FSX software keep working; Bushnell plan holders were moved onto Foresight+, owners report. Owners began objecting in September:
“This latest subscription change is the last straw for me.” (u/random-scrolling-lol, 2026-09-25)
Pick for shared rooms on a budget: FlightScope Mevo Gen2. It combines radar with a camera, charges no subscription, and sits 8 feet behind the ball. Owners say left- and right-handed golfers share it without moving it. One owner finds putting hit or miss under 5 feet, with occasional misreads under 10.
| Unit | Price | Sits | Yearly plan for full use | GSPro | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Square Omni | $1,599 | Beside the ball | No Square subscription, per listings and its manual (welcome credits included); Square’s site does not say | Supported since a June 2026 beta | Sold out at Square on 2 Oct |
| Uneekor EYE MINI LITE | $1,999 sale (list $2,750) | Floor, beside the ball | Pro $199 a year for GSPro | Needs Pro | Indoor only; region-lock reports abroad |
| Bushnell Launch Pro | $2,999.99 | Beside the ball | Foresight+ Gold $599 a year for GSPro | Needs Gold | Bushnell’s page is unclear on club data without a plan |
| FlightScope Mevo Gen2 | $1,299 | 8 ft behind the ball | None; Pro Package $699 one-time for club data | Supported | Needs room behind the ball |
| SkyTrak ST MAX | $1,695 sale (list $2,995) | Beside the ball | $99.99–599.99 a year; a year of SkyTrak’s Core plan in the sale | Not listed by GSPro | Owners and reviewers call it a small step over the Plus |
Prices as read on 2 October 2026 and re-checked on 14 October 2026. They change often, so check before you buy.
A new two-camera Foresight GC2 (ball data only, $1,699) is on pre-order. Foresight’s page gave no shipping date on 14 October 2026; Shop Indoor Golf says mid-October.
Uneekor Eye Mini Space Requirements
Bushnell Launch Pro Space Requirements
$3,000 to $7,000: Overhead and All-in-One
Pick: ProTee VX. It hangs overhead, so nobody moves it between golfers, and ProTee says it has “no recurring software fees”. It needs a ceiling of at least 9 feet. Owners call it reliable (12 reports from 11 owners).

One caveat: a software update caused an outage in June 2026, reported by six owners.
One owner’s recommendation:
“Protee VX. It’s higher cost than some but with zero subscription fees.” (u/TeddyOH, 2026-09-29)
Also consider: Garmin R50. It runs Garmin’s Home Tee Hero on its own screen with no PC, which owners and reviewers praise, but GSPro still needs a PC. Putting and wedge reads split owners and reviewers.
| Unit | Price | Sits | Yearly plan for full use | GSPro | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ProTee VX | $6,500 (retailers) | Overhead | None | Supported; GSPro extra | 9 ft minimum ceiling |
| Garmin R50 | $4,999.99 | 1.5 ft beside the ball | Garmin Golf $99.99 for Home Tee Hero | Supported; needs a PC | Putting and wedges split owners and reviewers |
| Foresight GC3 | $3,999 sale (list $6,999) | Beside the ball | Foresight+ Gold $599 for GSPro | Needs Gold | Same hardware as the Launch Pro, per owners and reviewers |
| Uneekor EYE XR | $5,999 sale (list $6,999) | Overhead, behind | Pro $199 for GSPro | Needs Pro | Uneekor recommends a room 13 ft wide, 16 ft deep, 10 ft high |
| Full Swing KIT | $4,999 (Shop Indoor Golf, PlayBetter); $4,999.99 (Carl’s) | Behind the ball, per owners | Not verified | Listed by GSPro | Owners rate indoor accuracy below camera units (2021–2025) |
Prices as read on 2 October 2026 and re-checked on 14 October 2026. They change often, so check before you buy.

Foresight GC3 Space Requirements
$7,000 and Up: The Top Tier
Pick: Trackman iO or Foresight GCQuad, depending on whether you want the unit overhead (the iO). Trackman’s software costs $700 a year. Its license site also listed a $1,000 hardware subscription in August 2026 that trackman.com did not show on 2 October, and the “Home” tier gives club speed only. Owners and reviewers say it doesn’t run GSPro. The GCQuad sits beside the ball, and owners in Facebook groups treat it as one of the top accuracy benchmarks.

| Unit | Price | Sits | Yearly plan for full use | GSPro | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uneekor EYE XO2 | $10,999 | Overhead, indoor only | Pro $199 for GSPro | Needs Pro | Owners and reviewers question its club data |
| Trackman iO | $13,995 | Overhead | $700 software (Home tier); a $1,000 hardware plan listed in August 2026, not on trackman.com on 2 Oct | Not supported, per owners and reviewers | Home tier: club speed only |
| Foresight GCQuad | $15,999 | Beside the ball | Foresight+ Gold $599 for GSPro | Needs Gold | Essential Putting Analysis is optional |
| Foresight Falcon | $16,999 | Overhead | Foresight+ Gold $599 for GSPro | Needs Gold | Full club data needs stickers, per reviewers |
| Foresight QuadMAX | $19,999 | Beside the ball | Foresight+ Gold $599 for GSPro | Needs Gold | Putting analysis included |

Uneekor EYE XO Vs Foresight GC Quad – 18 Key Comparisons
Matching a Launch Monitor to Your Room
- Garage: one owner suggests a metal garage door behind a radar unit can confuse it. In an unheated garage, check the maker’s lowest operating temperature: Square, Mevo, Full Swing and Voice Caddie SC4 Pro units 32°F, Rapsodo MLM2PRO 41°F, Garmin R10 and R50 14°F.
- Low ceiling: a floor unit is the safe choice. ProTee’s stated minimum is 9 ft, and Uneekor asks 9–10 ft. Trackman recommends a room 10 ft high for the iO, though its installation table starts at 270 cm (8 ft 10 in), measured from the mat.
- Short room: a camera unit beside the ball needs far less depth than radar.
- Width: one owner estimates 12–13 ft for a centered ball; another with 16 ft still finds a driver swing tight.
- Left- and right-handed golfers: a left-hander alone just mirrors the setup. A mixed household on a budget can mark the floor for both positions and play a hole at a time. For no moving at all, choose an overhead unit or, owners say, a Mevo Gen2 with 8 feet behind it.
On the EYE MINI, one owner wrote:
“so you mark the floor for both positions and its a quick easy swap” (u/PastAd1087, 2025-10-08)
The Yearly Cost on Top
Three examples, assuming today’s prices hold for five years:
- Bushnell Launch Pro: $599 Gold + $250 GSPro = $849 a year, or $4,245 over five years, against $2,999.99 for the unit.
- ProTee VX: no maker fee; GSPro, if you add it, $250 a year, or $1,250 over five years.
- Rapsodo MLM2PRO: $199.99 Premium + $250 GSPro = $449.99 a year, or $2,249.95 over five years. With the lifetime plan, which Rapsodo lists as a limited-time offer, $599.99 + $1,250 = $1,849.99.

Best Launch Monitor FAQ
What is the best launch monitor for a home golf simulator?
For most rooms, a camera unit around $1,600 to $2,000: the Square Omni, or the Uneekor EYE MINI LITE if the Omni is out of stock.
Do you need a subscription for a home launch monitor?
Not always. ProTee, FlightScope and Garmin add no GSPro fee of their own; Uneekor, Rapsodo, Foresight and Bushnell do.
Radar or camera: which is better indoors?
Owners and reviewers favor camera units indoors; radar needs more room behind the ball and suits outdoor range use.
Can a launch monitor putt and chip indoors?
Owners and reviewers praise the putting on Square’s Omni and Home Edition. The R10 doesn’t putt, owners find Mevo Gen2 putting fussy to set up, and R50 putting draws complaints.
Which launch monitors work for left- and right-handed golfers without moving?
Overhead units such as the ProTee VX and, owners say, radar units behind the ball such as the Mevo Gen2.
What if your ceiling is low?
Use a floor unit; most overhead units ask for 9 to 10 feet.
Do you need a gaming PC?
For GSPro, yes, a Windows PC; there is no Mac version. Garmin’s R50 runs its own simulator without one.
What if the Square Omni is out of stock?
The EYE MINI LITE is the closest camera alternative; budget $199 a year for Uneekor’s Pro plan, plus $250 for GSPro.
Final Thoughts
Pick the room first, then the technology, then the budget. For most homes that means a camera unit beside the ball and a clear-eyed look at the yearly software bill before you buy.
