How the GC3 Reads a Shot, and Why Tee-to-Screen Distance Is Free

Three cameras photograph the ball and club through impact from about 2 ft to the side; a ball outside the hitting zone brings up “MOVE BALL INTO HITTING ZONE.” Nothing is measured down-range, so tee-to-screen distance is a safety question, and owners hit from 6–9 ft with no issues (14 reports from 14 owners).

Room Height

I often say 8.5-9ft is an absolute minimum room height for a golf simulator, and 10ft or more provides a much more comfortable swinging experience with the driver.

The author’s floor holds, and the summer’s threads read it tighter than “comfortable.” A golfer a little taller than the asker called 9 ft the absolute minimum. A 5 ft 9 in owner with a 9 ft ceiling swings irons but not woods once the mat is down, and an 8.5 ft room was rejected outright. The mat takes 2–2.5 in of whatever you have.

Room Width and the Offset Default

Different golfers will place varying levels of importance on a central aim, but for me it is essential to be able to aim where I think I’m aiming, and not have to aim back across to the left to offset a target line that is off centre.

The site’s rule is 10 ft offset, 15 ft centered. In 2026 the offset is the default under about 13–15 ft: an installer told a 10 ft-wide garage to plan for it, and a 15 × 15 ft owner calls that tight.

Room Length: the Arithmetic

I have seen simulators in which the length of the room is 10 or 11ft but I think this would impact a swing.

Because the GC3 needs no flight room, length is swing room plus screen clearance, and the community’s sum lands close to the site’s Launch Pro guide.

Outdoors the GC3 has no space limit and weighs 5 lb, and Foresight’s GC3 page lists it for indoor and outdoor use, on the course or the range. Owners rarely name the GC3 or GCQuad in outdoor buying threads (10 reports from 10 owners).

Launch Pro owners do take theirs to the range and into nets (7 reports from 7 owners), and a 10 × 10 ft garage with a net still works.
