Bushnell Launch Pro vs SkyTrak ST MAX (2026)
Posted in Launch Monitors
Both units sit beside the ball, so neither needs the deep room a radar unit behind the golfer does. The split is the software each one lives on. The Launch Pro is a Bushnell camera unit that now runs on Foresight’s Foresight+ plans; the ST MAX is SkyTrak’s radar-and-camera unit, which replaced the SkyTrak+. Many older comparisons still describe the SkyTrak+, which SkyTrak no longer sells.
In a Nutshell
The SkyTrak ST MAX ($1,695 on sale on 11 October 2026, list $2,995) costs less to buy and to run on its own courses, but SkyTrak’s pages name no GSPro link. The Bushnell Launch Pro ($2,999.99 at Bushnell) runs GSPro and owners and reviewers rate its accuracy highly, but that route costs $849 a year for Foresight+ Gold plus GSPro.
👉 Price five years, not the box: four years of Gold plus GSPro ($3,396) cost more than the unit.
Jargon, once:
- Camera vs radar — cameras read the ball at impact; radar tracks it. The ST MAX uses both, the Launch Pro three cameras.
- Foresight+ — the plan family Bushnell’s Launch Pro now uses: Free, Silver and Gold.
- GSPro — a PC golf-course program with its own yearly license.
- Ball data vs club data — how the ball launched, or how the club moved through impact.

How this was built: makers’ and retailers’ pages read on 2 and 11 October 2026; Bushnell’s manual and SkyTrak’s setup guide read in August 2026; owner and reviewer reports from Reddit and YouTube since 2021 for the Launch Pro and September 2025 for the ST MAX. Nothing here was tested hands-on.
The Real Split Is Software
Launch Pro: GSPro, at a price. Bushnell’s page says GSPro ($250 a year) needs an active Gold membership, and third-party programs are not included on Free or Silver. New units come with a 30-day Foresight+ trial. Owners and reviewers resent paying for the top plan just to connect (14 reports from 13 owners and reviewers).
Launch Pro: its own courses. Silver costs $199 a year, and Course Pass ($295 a year) adds courses to it.
ST MAX: SkyTrak’s courses, no official GSPro. Essential covers the range and practice games but not course play; Core adds one course pack, and Elite both. SkyTrak’s own pages name no GSPro or E6 Connect link. Owners use unofficial community connectors, which owners and reviewers note carry no guarantee (6 reports from 5 owners and reviewers).
Plan changes. Since October 2023, Launch Pro owners have said Bushnell dropped its cheaper Basic tier, cutting off the GSPro access they had relied on (10 reports from 10 owners).

Five-Year Cost: Unit Plus Plans
Unit price plus plans, at 11 October 2026 prices:
| Route | Bushnell Launch Pro | SkyTrak ST MAX |

| Five years with the unit | $2,999.99 + 5 × $494 = $5,469.99 | $1,695 + 4 × $299.99 = $2,894.96 |
| GSPro, per year | Gold $599 + GSPro $250 = $849 | Not offered by SkyTrak |

At SkyTrak’s list price with five paid years of Core, the ST MAX totals $4,494.95. The sale and the free year of Core are short-term promotions, so they may change.
What Owners Report
Launch Pro accuracy. Owners and reviewers treat it as one of the most accurate units at any price (22 reports from 12 owners and reviewers, 2021 to 2026).
Launch Pro reliability. Build quality and shot detection draw praise, with few missed reads (9 reports from 6 owners and reviewers). One rule to know: the manual says the unit needs online registration renewed every 45 days, or its data connections stop until you renew.
ST MAX vs SkyTrak+. Many owners and reviewers see the ST MAX as the SkyTrak+ with refinements rather than a real upgrade (14 reports from 10 owners and reviewers).
ST MAX gaps. Angle of attack is still missing from the unit itself, owners and reviewers say (7 reports from 5 owners and reviewers).
ST MAX misreads. Misreads and no-reads remain a steady complaint (6 reports from 5 owners and reviewers).
ST MAX carry. When it does read, owners and reviewers trust its carry distances (4 reports from 4 owners and reviewers).
ST MAX software. SkyTrak’s app is praised as one of the easiest to use, with a strong choice of courses (7 reports from 4 owners and reviewers).
Rivals. Owners and shoppers point to the Square Omni, Uneekor EYE MINI and Garmin R50 or R10 as better value than the ST MAX (11 reports from 11 owners and reviewers).
Room, Setup and Apps
Neither maker prints a minimum room size. Both sit beside the ball, so depth behind the tee isn’t the issue; ceiling height and swing room are.
- Launch Pro: about 2 ft from the hitting area, with a 7 × 10 in hitting zone. Bushnell’s page gives no room or ceiling figure.
- ST MAX: level with the hitting surface; the ball goes on a red laser dot. SkyTrak’s planning page says a 10 ft ceiling “typically offers ample clearance for most golfers” and calls 17 ft of depth comfortable. That is guidance, not a minimum, and SkyTrak’s guide says the ceiling you need varies with your height and club.
- Apps: SkyTrak’s app runs on iOS, Android, Windows and Mac; its USB-C cable link is Windows only. The Launch Pro connects by USB-C, Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

Putting, Club Data and Left-Handed Golfers
- Putting: Bushnell’s manual never mentions putting. SkyTrak’s guide lists software putting options such as Auto Putt and Putt It Out, and SkyTrak’s pages make no claim to read real putts.
- Club data: the Launch Pro reads club speed, path and angle of attack with an adhesive club marker. Bushnell’s page contradicts itself on whether the Free plan includes club data. Reviewers like that the ST MAX needs no club or ball markers (4 reports from 3 reviewers).
- Left-handed: both have a left-handed mode. Launch Pro owners in mixed households report it works once the unit is repositioned (6 reports from 6 owners).

FAQ
Which is more accurate?
Owners and reviewers rate the Launch Pro’s accuracy more highly. ST MAX owners and reviewers trust its carry numbers when it reads but report misreads and no angle of attack.
Does the ST MAX work with GSPro?
Not officially. SkyTrak’s pages name no GSPro link; owners use unofficial community connectors.
Do you need a subscription for the Launch Pro?
For GSPro, yes: Foresight+ Gold at $599 a year, plus GSPro’s own $250 license. Free covers ball data.
What about the Launch Pro i?
Bushnell listed its cheaper sibling at $1,999.99 but showed it sold out on 11 October 2026, and its ball and club data both need a plan.

A small one, owners and reviewers say. The SkyTrak+ is no longer sold.
Can either read putts?
Neither maker claims real putt reads on the pages and manuals checked.
Which suits a mixed household?
Both have a left-handed mode; Launch Pro owners report it works once repositioned.
